in the beginning...

I've just created this blog and so far its been easy enough. I will be following slq's Licence 2 Drive program and hopefully throughout the coming weeks this blog will evolve into something quite special.

By creating and using this blog it will make it easier for me to understand how libraries can harness Web 2.0 technologies. I work in the family history area and we have often discussed how we could use a blog to promote our services. We could possibly do the following:

• tell our clients about new family history resources purchased by the library
• post new geneslogy websites
• advertise events and talks held at the library as well as other government institutions such as the state and national archives
• include tips and ideas for research your family tree
• link back to our established webpages and info guides
• promote new databases hosted by the library
